AMZ Training Academy Review

I was lucky enough to be part of the AMZ Training Academy pre launch Testing Group for the last two months so i can give you an in depth review of the training program. I do have to tell you that before I joined AMZ I was a total newbie when it came to internet marketing but i was already familiar with blogging and the internet in general. A more experienced Internet marketer may have a totally different opinion of this membership program.

The AMZ Training Academy Training Videos.

The training videos are all step by step videos designed for the complete novice. They really are easy to understand even though Gaz has a British accent. When I first Joined AMZ there was only 1 set of videos. Now there are 4. As new ideas come up new step by step videos are added. If you need a video to walk you through something that is not already covered just ask.

The 21 step video series walks you through setting up a wordpress site and building your first amazon affiliate sniper site. It is recommended that you build a few sniper sites to get your feet wet before you start building an Authority site.

The Authority site videos walk you through pretty much everything that the 21 step videos do plus. These videos also introduce the new AMZ Amazon authority wordpress theme that was designed by the AMZ Training Academy team. There are plenty of videos walking you through keyword research since that is the most important part of building any site. If the keyword does not get enough traffic or the competition is too tough then you will have a hard time making money.

The AMZ Training Academy Forum

The first thing you will notice now is that there are not very many posts since the prelaunch has been going on for several months. The reason is just before the AMZ Training Academy went live to the public they switched to a new forum platform and all of the old posts were lost.

I like the forum on Amz Training Academy because of the help we get from the owners of the Academy and the other members. There are a lot of people on the forum that know almost nothing about the internet and the terms used. Every one jumps in and helps explain the terms and what they mean in the real world. Sometimes the new person does not understand how to perform basic tasks maybe because they did not pay attention in that particular video or they accidentally skipped a video that explains that step. The members are really patient about all of this and will either explain the step and/or point the person to the video that explains it.

There are some members that have been in the Internet marketing game for years and they help with their own advice on plugins, wordpress themes, and SEO so if you have any questions the forum is the first place to go.

The only thing i do not like about the forum is the ‘new posts’ button is missing. When i visit a forum i like to click the “new posts” button and see all of the posts that have been made since my last visit. That is missing in this forum platform.

So what is My Opinion of the AMZ Training Academy?

I have to tell you the truth. The list building and trying to gain traffic by making comments on Facebook that Chris Farrell teaches is probably a good long term system to make money on the internet but it just wasn’t my thing. I much prefer the building of sniper sites for quick results and authority sites for long term results than trolling through Facebook looking for quality friends and making engaging comments hoping someone will find them interesting enough to visit my site then sign up on my list.

Why I am writing this article.

I was participating on a fairly well known forum today and another member started berating one person for being an opportunity seeker then started in on freeloaders. This made me a little angry at first but did make me think about it quite a bit more. I then realized that this particular forum would not exist if it were not for opportunity seekers and freeloaders. After i started making a list of reasons why this forum would not exist if it were not for opportunity seekers or freeloaders I came to the conclusion that I did not know of any forums that this did not apply to. Therefore I decided that this would be an ezine article instead of a reply in the forum.

Opportunity seekers:

People Looking for the opportunity to sell.

1) Every person that is a member of a forum with a signature link is an opportunity seeker. They are hoping that someone will notice their signature and click on their link giving them the opportunity to make a sale. This is especially true for those that have the largest, longest, most colorful signature links available on the forum i was on at the time since they sell the right to make linkable signatures.

2) There are opportunity seekers that post on forums looking for the opportunity to drop a link to their website in a post.

People Looking for an Opportunity to Buy a Product.

1) This particular forum has a sub forum for people to sell their internet marketing information, programs, widgets, ebooks, plugins and whatever else they can think of to sell. Most forums I have been on have a classifieds section and sell advertising on the forum making the forum itself an opportunity seeker. This attracts people looking for the opportunity to buy something.

People looking for an opportunity to share knowledge.

1) Those that give out free knowledge are the smallest percent of the people who visit forums. Take a look at the posting rate on any forum. In my experience the number of visitors, lurkers and question askers dwarf the number of people actually handing out advice and information. With that being said on some forums the only reason some of these members have such high post rates giving the illusion that they are giving knowledge freely is because every time they make a post to answer a question they have the opportunity to make a sale.

2) The people who are on a forum seeking the opportunity to learn. Isn’t that the reason that most people go to a forum in the first place? They have a question and what better place to find a free answer than a forum on that topic? If not for these people looking for an opportunity to get their question answered most forums would have no reason to exist leaving the other types of opportunity seekers out in the cold.

Freeloaders

What would a freeloader on a forum be? Someone looking for something for nothing would be the obvious answer. One would think these would be guests and lurking members that never make a post or people who freely take information without giving any back. My answer is since the majority of most forums i have seen are made up of these types of people then the stats for most forums would not be high enough to gain advertising revenues therefore the forum would die a slow death. Very few forums are run as a labor of love.

My Conclusion is that no forums would exist if it were not for opportunity seekers and freeloaders of one sort or another. What do you think?

Learning Internet Marketing

I started learning about SEO and internet marketing on my 50th birthday which was on July 7th, 2011.

Kind of late in life but the poor economy forced me to look for alternative ways to earn an income to keep my business open until the economy improves.

I started out by doing research on SEO because a friend of mine told me that was the way to drive traffic to your website. I already knew that a website was not going to make money unless people saw it. Picture building a billboard in the desert 20 miles from the nearest road. That is what a website without either free traffic from SEO or paid traffic. I do not have the money to pay for traffic so i have to learn how to gather free traffic.

Chris Farrell Membership

I ran across the Chris Farrell Membership on a forum that rated it as the #1 way to make money on the internet. I looked at the membership for 5 days before i finally paid the $5 for the 7 trial membership. I went through all of the training materials and videos to learn how to build my own website. I learned enough about html to modify some code that i need to do every once in a while when building wordpress sites.

Chris also teaches a lot about how to use Facebook as an Internet Marketing tool. I learned the proper way to chose people to invite and accept as friends. How to make a fan page and keep it from getting banned by Facebook. Plus a variety of other skills that would be useful for the long journey of building up an internet business. The time frame to make money was 6 months and i thought that was reasonable. I knew all of the scammers that were promising that you can make thousands of dollars the very next day using their 3 or 4 click method were BS. I also knew that Internet Marketing involved learning some new skills and getting good at them so six months was not unreasonable to me.

To be honest i learned enough in those 7 days from his step by step videos and the people in the forum that i was planning on continuing my membership at least for the six months it was said to start making money online. I was also looking forward to some new tools that Chris was negotiating to be free for members. The problem came when Click Bank did not like my debit card for some reason and refused to take payment. CFM does not accept any other form of payment and i only have a debit card from Thailand so I had to leave the CFM.

AMZ Training Academy Membership

Luckily while i was at CFM I saw a post in their forum from a guy that was starting up a new Internet Marketing Membership Program and he needed a few members to train so he could refine his program. This program is called AMZ Training ACADEMY and it focuses on building websites marketing Amazon Affiliate products. I joined up and started to learn the AMZ Training ACADEMY methods. This new program is duplicating the step by step video teaching methods that i saw in CFM which makes it perfect for any beginner. Plus the AMZ Trainind ACADEMY program has free tools that are very useful for building my new online empire and new tools are being designed for promoting Amazon Affiliate Websites.

Now i bet you are wondering how it all has worked out. Of course i will tell you. I signed up for CFM on July 12th and the AMZ Training ACADEMY on July 15th. On September 13th i made 4 online sales and on the 15th I made another 2 online sales. That is only about 2 months since i first started learning about Internet marketing. Not bad when i was thinking it would be 6 months before i made my first dollar online.

I did not check my sales every day so when i did check all 6 sales were showing. I have to tell you i was ecstatic when i first saw that i had sales. The first thing i did was send a message to the guy that invited me to the AMZ training ACADEMY forum and the second thing i did was take my kids out for ice cream. I wanted to share my success with the guy i was learning from and my kids who are sacrificing time with me so I can learn everything necessary to get ahead in the internet marketing gig. I knew the statistics say that 98% of the people that build websites never make a dime so these sales showing only 2 months after i started sent me to the moon.

I do have to point out that I have been spending 16 to 18 hours a day glued to the computer reading, learning, getting advice and building websites. So far i have built 11 websites including this blog and have made money on two of them. Then again all of my sites are less than 2 months old and most of them are less than 1 month old so there is still plenty of time for them to start paying off. I know some never will but I am confident that the ones that do will make up for the ones that don’t.
